MONTSERRAT, WINE & OLIVE OIL TOUR
Premium Experience with an Olive Oil and a Winemaker
Private visits with the farm owners
High-end tastings of organic food and wine
Authentic experience off the tourist radar
Description
Join our Montserrat, Wine & Olive Oil Tour and prepare for a very special day visiting 2 fantastic locations and tasting some of the finest olive oils and wines of the region. In the morning, we’ll take you to an olive oil farm where you’ll meet the owner of the place, a renowned olive oil taster who will take you around the farm and tell you about its 500 years of history. You’ll learn about the varieties of olives they grow and how they produce an exceptional and very rare olive oil. Then, you’ll have an olive tasting where you will taste 3 of the most emblematic olive oil varieties of the region. After the tasting, you will enjoy a traditional Catalan meal prepared and served by a skilled private chef, and made using ingredients from the farm. And, of course, you will be invited to pair your dishes with the olive oils previously tasted, and with some of the finest wine of the region. In the afternoon, we’ll take you to a small-scale organic winery producing the most fantastic aged red wines. You’ll get a special tasting-visit from the owner of the winery where you’ll taste the wines as they are aging. You’ll start from the previous harvest, before tasting the wine aging in the oak barrel (or other recipients such as clay or granite that are used at the winery). Finally, you’ll taste all those wines at the end of their cycle, once they've become top wines after years of aging. Prepare yourself for a warm welcome, and to get a really unique experience. We've offered this experience since 2018, and we are amazed at how incredible it went and at the wonderful feedback we get. We've seen wine collectors drop a tear during the wine tasting, and people with more limited wine or olive oil knowledge learn and enjoy lots from both visits. Because both the olive oil farm and the winery owners are so dedicated and patient, they are working wonders at making the visits super custom and fit to everyone who comes with an interest in learning about and tasting some of the best wines and olive oils of the region.
Montserrat Visit Add-On
Enjoy a 1,5-hour guided visit to the Montserrat monastery. You will be guided through the monastery, its Basilica and you will visit the Black Madonna too, so that you can experience the traditional pilgrimage for yourself. Please request if you're interested.

What they say about this experience:
"We did the Montserrat Olive Oil & Wine tour and it was amazing. We had an amazing, punctual, and knowledgeable guide, Delphine and a good driver, Carlos. We loved how intimate the tour was and meeting Sergi (olive oil) and Josep (winery) and hearing their personal stories was incredible. Highly recommend!" ~ HSR "We took the Montserrat Olive Oil and Wine tour - it was a magical experience! At the Olive Oil grove we were served a private lunch made by a local chef, the food was fresh and delicious. We ate outside with the farm owner, it was a beautiful setting. Along with the lunch we were able to sample the olive oils which were amazing. We then continued on for an exclusive Visit of a small-scale boutique winery with the owner of the winery. We were able to taste the wine directly from the aging oak barrels. The owner was warm and generous, we felt like we were right at home. We look forward to taking other tours with Barcelona Slow Travel the next time we visit Spain!" ~ Lisa G.
